OTTAPALAM: Worked as a binding worker in the Secretariat for some time. Became close to the Chief Minister in the meantime. A man who cheated people by telling such a story and committing job fraud has been arrested. He defrauded Rs. 9 lakh from victims.
Kothakurssi Panamanna native Muhammadali (39) was arrested by the Ottapalam police yesterday. An investigation is ongoing to find his accomplice, Muthu. He had promised government jobs to the children of Haridas, a native of Angadi, Palappuram. Haridas was tricked into believing that Muhammadali was working in the Chief Minister's office in the Secretariat.
Haridas transferred money through bank accounts and in cash from February to June 2024. When Haridas enquired after not getting a job, Muhammadali convinced him by saying that the Chief Minister was busy with the Wayanad disaster rehabilitation. When Muhammadali repeated the same thing again, Haridas became suspicious and filed a complaint with the Ottapalam police.
Police said they have received complaints that Muhammadali and Muthu have tricked others in the same way. The investigation is being led by SIs M. Sunil and J.P. Ajith.
