THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cause of death of Vipanchika (33), a native of Kollam Keralapuram, who was found hanging in a flat in Sharjah, was strangulation of the neck, says the initial report. The re-postmortem conducted at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College revealed that the nerves in the neck were damaged. This can happen when a person commits suicide or is killed by strangulation. The report also says that there are some marks on Vipanchika's body that are suspected to be from physical abuse. Meanwhile, Sasthamcotta DySP Mukesh GB, the investigating officer, said that the note Vipanchika posted on Facebook and the picture sent to her family confirm that she committed suicide after being tortured by her husband.

The embalmed body was brought to the Thiruvananthapuram airport around 11 am. Vipanchika's mother Shailaja, brother Vinod and other relatives who were in Sharjah returned home. The postmortem was completed at 3.30 pm and the body was handed over to the relatives. Later, it was cremated in the premises of the house in Kollam. Former Union Minister V Muraleedharan visited the Medical College and met Vipanchika's relatives. Vipanchika and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Vaibhavi were found dead in a flat in Al Nahda, Sharjah on the 9th. Vaibhavi's body was cremated in Dubai on the 17th.

We had tried to resolve the issue between Vipanchika and her husband. Vipanchika went with him when Nitheesh asked for another chance. The accused should be brought back to the country and subjected to legal action. Even if it is mental torture, since she committed suicide, it is not legal in Sharjah. The government and the consulate should intervene to bring the accused back to India.

Vipanchika's brother

There should be an objective investigation into the allegations raised by the family. On the request of Vipanchika's lawyer, we spoke to the Indian Consul General in the UAE and intervened to bring the body back home.

Former Union Minister

The investigation is progressing. A lookout notice and a red corner will be issued to bring the accused back home.
