THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been found that IB officer Sukanth, the accused who led to the suicide of his colleague in Thiruvananthapuram, had exploited multiple women both physically and financially. This information came to light after authorities examined Sukanth's bank account. The woman who died by suicide was reportedly one among several women exploited by him. Her father had earlier alleged that Sukanth had financially deceived his daughter.
The ongoing investigation has revealed that multiple women had fallen victim to Sukanth’s manipulation. Data recovered from his home, including his tablet and mobile phone, contained information about multiple women who were allegedly exploited. Police plan to record the statements of these victims. Statements from IB colleagues of both the deceased and the accused are also being collected as part of the probe.
Police confirmed that the deceased woman was on a phone call with Sukanth at the time of her death. A week prior, Sukanth had messaged her mother via WhatsApp, saying he was withdrawing from the marriage proposal. Investigators believe that the dispute over this message may have led to her suicide. Sukanth and the woman had reportedly lived together in Kochi during their training period and after joining the job.
It has also been found that the woman who accompanied the deceased to the hospital for an abortion had no connection with Sukanth, contrary to earlier suspicions. The marriage certificate submitted at the hospital was forged, and Sukanth is believed to have fabricated it. Police have issued a lookout notice and believe the accused has not left the country. Investigations are also underway focusing on his friends from other states.
