KOLLAM: In a state-wide crackdown on illegal liquor sales during the dry day, excise officials seized significant quantities of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) in multiple locations across Kerala. Several individuals were arrested in connection with the seizures.
In Neyyattinkara, Excise Inspector Ajayakumar from the Neyyattinkara Excise Circle Office and his team arrested Ashiq Mandal (19), a native of Jharkhand, for possession of 15 liters of IMFL.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of Karunagapally Excise Range Inspector (Grade) DS Manoj Kumar, 33.5 liters of IMFL was seized from Sreekumar (52), a resident of Neendakara, who was caught attempting to sell the liquor. The raid was conducted with the assistance of Assistant Excise Inspector (Grade) Abhimon, Preventive Officer (Grade) G. Abhilash, Civil Excise Officers Kishore and Hariprasad and Woman Civil Excise Officer Molly.
In another operation near Kollam Bharanikkavu Temple, Sujith (54), a resident of Vadakkevila, was arrested with 12 liters of IMFL and 1 liter of arrack, which he was selling from a scooter. The arrest was made by the Kollam Special Squad, led by Assistant Excise Inspector (Grade) KG Raghu. The team included Excise Inspector (Grade) Prem Nazir, Civil Excise Officers Anish M.R., Suraj, Balu S. Sundar, Woman Civil Excise Officer Varsha Vivek and Civil Excise Officer Driver Subhash.
In Alappuzha, Sivaprakash, a native of Pallipad, was arrested with 29 liters of IMFL. The operation, led by Preventive Officer Rajesh from the Alappuzha Karthikapalli Excise Range, also resulted in the confiscation of a Honda Activa scooter used in the illegal sale. Preventive Officer (Grade) Tony T, Civil Excise Officers GSH T, Akash Narayanan, Lady Civil Excise Officer Dhanalakshmi and Civil Excise Officer Driver P. A. Riaz participated in the raid.
