Festival holiday on March 3rd; Capital city Mayor demands holiday on previous day as well

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor V.V. Rajesh has demanded that a holiday be declared in the capital district on March 2 in connection with Attukal Pongala. The mayor also announced that a letter will be written to the government in this regard.

The District Collector has declared a local holiday in Thiruvananthapuram district on March 3, which is the day of Pongala. The District Collector announced that the holiday applies to educational, government and semi-government institutions in the district. The Attukal Pongala festival began on February 23 with the Kappukettu ceremony.
