KOCHI: Police have identified Dominic Martin, a Thammanam resident as the person responsible for the blast that occurred during a Jehovah's Witnesses convention in Kalamassery. The police found that the explosion was triggered remotely, and they obtained footage of the bomb being detonated via Martin's mobile phone. The explosive device was made using a bottle filled with petrol. Martin has provided information to the police about where he obtained the materials for the bomb, and he claimed to have learned how to make it from the internet.

In a Facebook video released before surrendering, Martin confessed to planting the bomb. He had been a member of the same church for sixteen years but grew convinced that Jehovah's Witnesses were promoting ideas he considered treasonous. Martin stated in the video that people like him would take action against this.

The blast, which occurred at 9:30 am this morning, resulted in the death of one woman and left more than 35 people injured, with seven of them in critical condition. A child with 80 percent burns is on a ventilator. The explosion took place at the Samra International Convention Center near the Medical College in Kalamassery. This incident happened on the final day of the conference, which had been ongoing since the 27th of this month. Over 2000 people participated in the conference, and the injured individuals were transported to different hospitals.
