KOZHIKODE: A man has been arrested for brutally stabbing a woman in retaliation for ending their friendship. The arrested person is Saleem (56), a native of Chakkukadavu in Kozhikode. He was taken into custody by the Nallalam police. The victim, Jamshila, hailing from Kallikkunnu, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Jamshila was standing at a bus stop near her house when Saleem attacked and stabbed her. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to her aid and took her to the hospital.

According to reports, Saleem and Jamshila were once friends. However, Jamshila decided to cut ties with him after he was imprisoned in a drug-related case. This is believed to have led to the attack. Saleem was presented before the court and has been remanded in custody.

In a separate incident in Vadakara's Azhiyur, a complaint was filed against five individuals for brutally assaulting a man for opposing alcohol consumption. The victim, R.K. Shiju (39), a native of Azhiyur, was attacked on the Puzhakkal-Nadammal road. Chombala police have registered a case against Nadammal natives Prajeesh, Ratheesh, Sharathootan, Kaakkadav Nidhin, and Sharath Lal.

According to police, the motive for the assault was a grudge stemming from a previous incident where Shiju had stopped the accused from consuming alcohol at his home. Shiju, who was injured in the attack, has been admitted to the hospital.
