KOZHIKODE: The body of a youth, who went missing one and a half years ago, has been found. The body recovered is that of Hemachandran of Bathery who lived in Mayanad. A group killed Hemachandran and buried him in a forest in Tamil Nadu’s Cherambadi over a financial dispute. Three have been taken into custody. The relatives had filed a complaint with the police on the day he went missing. Kerala Police, Tamil Nadu Police and a dog squad reached the spot and conducted an inspection at 8 am today.
One of the accused showed the police the place where Hemachandran was buried. Police said the accused used Hemachandran's phone to deceive his family. The missing complaint was filed on April 1 last year. An investigation was conducted, but no evidence was found.
Recently, the police had arrested one of the accused in a theft case. Some clues got from him led to the information about Hemachandran's disappearance. Hemachandran was into chitty business. He had to pay money to a few people. In the meantime, the accused asked Hemachandran to come to the premises of Kozhikode Medical College. They later took him to a vacant house and attacked him. He died the next day. The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused took the body to Cherambadi and buried it the next day.
