Minor girl sexually harassed; father's friend physically assaulted by locals

KOCHI: A youth has been arrested by the police for allegedly sexually harassing his friend's daughter. The arrested person is Akhil. The incident took place at a restaurant in Paravur. Upon noticing the girl being sexually harassed by Akhil, the restaurant staff and locals apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act in connection with the incident.

The girl came to the restaurant along with her father, brother and Akhil. The accused allegedly sexually harassed the girl when the girl's father briefly stepped out of the restaurant. Restaurant staff noticed the incident and confronted him, after which locals intervened and apprehended the accused.

According to the locals, Akhil was drunk at the time of the incident. As the girl also complained about his misbehaviour, the locals physically assaulted him and later handed him over to the police. Akhil, who was arrested by the police, was produced in court and remanded.
