KOCHI: The police searched two women who arrived at Ernakulam North Railway Station at 10 am yesterday because they looked suspicious. The women who were natives of Bengal, who had set off for Kerala with three trolley bags, were under surveillance since Palakkad. When the two got off at Ernakulam station, the police found 37 kilograms of ganja in their bags. Murshidabad natives Sonia Sultana (21) and Anita Khatun Bibi (29) were arrested.

The RPF Crime Squad and DANSAF teams had intensified the inspection since yesterday. The police stopped and inspected the suspicious women after they tried to leave with their bags. The two women were smuggling ganja in the name of a trip to Kerala. They had boarded the train from Bengaluru. The route was changed after the inspection was tightened in Palakkad, but the women were caught still. The women are carriers who transport ganja from Bengal to Kerala as per order.

The women are smuggling ganja for pocket money. If the ganja is delivered safely, a certain amount of money will be given as commission. After handing it over, they will return immediately. It is reported that there is another man with them. He escaped when the police saw him. Both of them have been handed over to the Railway Police for further action.
