THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sreethu of Balaramapuram was arrested for murdering her two-and-a half-year-old daughter by throwing her into a well in Balaramapuram. The police have found that the toddler was killed with the consent of her mother. This was confirmed through forensic examination. Sreethu's brother Harikumar was earlier arrested in the case. Sreethu was earlier arrested in a financial fraud case. Sreethu out on bail in this case, was arrested by the police from Palakkad.

The toddler Devendu was killed on January 30. Although the police were able to find the accused within hours of the incident that shook the hometown, there were many mysteries in the case.

Harikumar had confessed to the crime. Harikumar told police that he had an illegal relationship with his sister Sreethu and threw the child into the well as she turned an obstacle to their relationship. On the day the crime was committed, Harikumar had instigated Sreethu to have sex. He asked her to come to his room via WhatsApp. According to that, Sreethu reached the room but went back as the child cried. This enraged Harikumar and he threw her into the well.

Harikumar had told police that his sister was involved in the crime, but Sreethu had denied it. However, the police have now found that Sreethu was also involved in the murder. She was taken into custody yesterday. Her arrest has been recorded and she will be produced in the court soon.
