SDPI activist held for snatching chain of elderly woman

PALAKKAD: An activist of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has been held for chain snatching. The one taken into custody is Shajahan of Koduvayur. He snatched the chain of an elderly woman last Friday.

The woman is into the sale of milk. The accused came in a bike and then snatched her chain of a sovereign. The woman later filed a case with the Kuzhalmannam Police. The woman was not able to remember his face. The accused was taken into custody in an investigation conducted focusing on the CCTV footages.

Shajahan was unit president of Koduvayur SDPI. The police are investigating whether he had committed the same act before. He will be soon taken for collecting evidence.
