KOCHI: An accused in a sexual assault case, vlogger Sreekanth Vettiyar, who had been absconding, has surrendered to the police. He surrendered at the Ernakulam Central police station with his lawyer, on Wednesday morning. The court had granted him anticipatory bail in the case.

The victim’s complaint said that Sreekanth Vettiyar had molested her at a flat and a hotel in Kochi. The assault took place in January and December last year. In addition to being financially exploited, I was also mentally and emotionally abused, the victim said in her complaint.

However, Sreekanth claimed in his bail application that the woman was his close friend and that she had made the allegation of sexual harassment with some mysterious intention. The revelation was made through the Facebook page 'Women Against Sexual Harassment'. After that, another woman had also leveled MeToo allegations against Sreekanth. An inquiry was launched following the complaint but the accused had gone into hiding.
