THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have widened the search for Cooper Deepu, the accused in the case of molesting a young woman studying at a private civil service coaching center in the capital. He left the state and went straight to Tamil Nadu but the police are giving an indication that he is now in Bengaluru. The police say that the accused will be arrested as soon as possible.
He left the state when he came to know about the complaint. The police are also monitoring his friends, who are natives of Kuravankonam. His other relations are also being investigated. The police also suspect that he may be hiding with the help of his friends.
Deepu is a friend of the victim's male friend. Deepu's main business is selling premium used cars including the Mini Cooper. That's how he got the name Cooper Deepu. The police say that he has not been involved in any case before this.
The incident related to the case took place after 11 pm on October 8 in the apartment where the young woman lives in Kulathur, Kazhakootam. The apartment has two bedrooms. The information available to the police is that the woman who is the roommate of the complainant was in the next room when the incident took place.
The accused and the complainant have known each other for six months. Accused Deepu called the complainant at 11 pm on the day of the incident saying that he had some things to say about her male friend. The complainant told him to come to the apartment as it was late at night. The accused reached the apartment and raped the complainant after forcing her to drink. These scenes were recorded by the accused on his mobile phone. According to the complaint, the accused threatened to release the footage if she disclosed the incident.
