Theft of 30 sovereign gold from wedding house; relative of groom caught, gives strange reason for crime

KANNUR: Accused arrested in the case of stealing 30 sovereign gold from a wedding house in Karivallur. A woman, a relative of the groom, has been arrested. The accused, a native of Koothuparamba Vengad, is currently in police custody. The woman gave a statement to the police that she feels a sense of ecstasy when she sees gold, and that is why she committed the theft.

The woman committed the theft at around 7 pm on May 1, the wedding day. The gold ornaments that the bride had kept in the cupboard of her husband's house in the evening were stolen. The woman said that she got rid of the stolen gold in the backyard on Tuesday morning when she thought she would be caught. The gold was found wrapped in a plastic bag and abandoned near the house. All the stolen gold ornaments were in the bag. The Payyannur police were investigating the incident after registering a case.
