Woman's death during childbirth at home: Two more people arrested

MALAPPURAM: Two more people have been arrested in connection with the death of a woman during childbirth at home in Chattiparambu. Fathima (58), wife of Kunnath Musliyar from Othukungal, and her son, Abubacker Siddique (38), were arrested by the police for assisting with the delivery of the deceased, Asma. They have been charged with culpable homicide and destruction of evidence. The accused were produced before the Malappuram Judicial Magistrate Court and have been remanded. Fathima has been sent to Manjeri Sub Jail, and Abubacker Siddique to Thavanur Central Jail.

Asma's husband, Sirajuddin, had already been arrested earlier in connection with the case. According to the police, Abubacker Siddique had assisted his mother Fathima during the home delivery. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to three.
