Youth beats mother to death with grinding stone following property dispute, arrested

KOCHI: In a shocking incident, a mother was beaten to death by her son in Nedumbassery. The victim has been identified as 75-year-old Anitha. Police have arrested her son Binu. According to the police, the murder happened due to a property dispute. Anitha was found dead at home on Sunday. It was Binu who took his mother to the hospital.

Police first registered a case of unnatural death, but the post-mortem report revealed injuries on Anitha’s body. Anitha and Binu had been living in a rented house. When police questioned Binu after becoming suspicious, he confessed to the murder. He told police that he beat his mother with a stick and a grinding stone. Police also said Anitha had mental health issues. They believe the murder happened because of a dispute related to land in Idukki.
