NEW DELHI: A youth congress leader has been arrested in the AKG Center attack case. The one arrested is former district secretary Suhail Shahjahan. He was arrested when he arrived at the Delhi Airport from abroad. The crime branch found that it was Suhail who had directed to hurl crackers towards the AKG Centre.
Suhail, who fled after the attack, had gone abroad. A lookout notice was issued against him. Suhail was detained at the Delhi airport as per the lookout notice issued. The crime branch team will reach Delhi, arrest the accused and bring him to Thiruvananthapuram.
The AKG Center was attacked on the night of June 30 in 2022. A youth on scooter was seen returning after throwing some explosive, but could not find him as it was not clear. Following that, the crime branch took over the case. The case was filed under charges of conspiracy, causing damage using explosives and illegal possession of explosives.
