Youth stabbed to death in Kottayam, former councilor, son held

KOTTAYAM: A youth was stabbed to death after a brawl in Manikkunnam. Adarsh of Manganam in Puthuppally was stabbed to death in front of the house of former Kottayam municipality councilor Anil Kumar. Anil Kumar is a Congress leader. Reports say that he had tried to join the LDF as he did not get a seat to contest the local body polls this time. The police have taken Anil Kumar and his son Abhijith into custody in the incident which happened late last night.

The police said that there was a financial dispute between Abhijith and Adarsh. Both are accused in drug cases. Adarsh along with his friends reached Abhijith's house the other day and created a ruckus over some financial dealings. In the meantime, Abhijith took a knife and stabbed Adarsh.

Adarsh fell unconscious soon after he was stabbed. He was immediately taken to Kottayam Medical College but his life could not be saved. Financial allegations were levelled against Abhijith earlier also. The incident is yet to be clarified. It is reported that the police are also questioning Anil Kumar in detail on suspicion.
