KOCHI: The statement of Sukanth Suresh, accused in the suicide case of IB official, has surfaced. He was taken to the woman’s flat in the capital city to collect evidence last evening. The details of his interrogation were revealed.
During interrogation, Sukanth told police that the two had a consensual relationship. Sukanth said that he had quarreled with her many times and would patch up later. The two had quarreled on the day she committed suicide. However, he said that he doesn’t know what led her to take the drastic step. The Thiruvananthapuram Pettah police have now reached Kochi with Sukanth. Evidence will be collected from his apartment in Nedumbassery.
Sukanth, who was absconding, surrendered late last month after the high court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The accused, brought to Thiruvananthapuram, was remanded by the court for 14 days. Presently, Sukanth has been remanded in custody until June 5. The IB officer of Pathanamthitta, was found dead on the railway tracks at Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram on March 24.
Her parents then came forward, accusing their daughter’s friend Sukanth for her death. The police initially registered a case of unnatural death. As soon as the investigation began, Sukanth and his family went hiding. In the meanwhile, the woman's father provided evidence to the police for sexually abusing his daughter. The police then registered a case against Sukanth for rape.
