‘Lord Ayyappa will not spare the cheaters, hope everyone involved gets caught’

KOCHI: Actor Jayaram appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The actor appeared at the office in Kadavanthra. Jayaram told the media that he would tell the ED everything he has to say. The ED had sent a notice to the actor last week asking him to appear for questioning.

“Lord Ayyappa will not spare the cheaters, hope everyone involved gets caught’? The truth behind the incidents must come out. I have been visiting Sabarimala without fail for 50 years. When Unnikrishnan Potty came, arranged facilities only as a devotee. Beyond that, I have no connection with Potty. Have visited many temples as a guest, not just Sabarimala. The truth in the Sabarimala case must come out,’ said Jayaram.

The door frames of Sabarimala which the prime accused Unnikrishnan Potty had taken for repair work were brought to Jayaram’s house in Chennai and a pooja was conducted. Jayaram has had a long-standing acquaintance with Potty. The ED is seeking clarification on it. The ED is also examining whether there are any financial transactions between the two.

The ED action is after the video visuals of Jayaram and Potty performing pooja together emerged. The investigation team has found that the alleged gold theft in 2019 was related to the golden door, the door frames of the sreekovil and the Dwarapalaka idol sheets. The new door was dedicated in March 2019. The door frames were made in June and the Dwarapalaka sheets were dedicated in September. Around the same time, visuals surfaced showing the gold panels being brought to actor Jayaram’s house for pooja. The visuals of Jayaram attending the pooja held in Smart Creations had also surfaced.
