‘V K Prasanth has room in MLA Hostel, then why corporation building’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amidst the controversies over the office space of V K Prasanth MLA in Sasthamangalam, Congress leader and councilor K S Sabarinadhan came forward against him. Prasanth has a room in the MLA hostel and why is he functioning his office in the corporation building, asked Sabarinadhan. His response was via a Facebook post. Prasanth's reply was that he started the office in Sasthamangalam for an easy access to everyone.

The corporation will now have to examine the agreement between the corporation and V K Prashanth on the issue of the MLA's office functioning in the corporation’s y office in Sasthamangalam ward and decide on matters including the rent. Let it stand there; I have another thing to tell you.

The offices of most MLAs in Kerala are in rented buildings in their own constituencies. I too had taken a room for monthly rent in Aryanad while serving as a public representative, but Prasanth is lucky. The MLA hostel is in the Vattiyoorkavu constituency that he represents. The MLA hostel in the heart of the city has good rooms, computer facilities, car parking and all the facilities. When I inquired, two office rooms have been allotted in your name at number 31 and 32 in the Nila block of the MLA hostel. When the government is providing the MLA hostel with such facilities free of cost, why are you leaving it and sitting in this room in Sasthamangalam?

My opinion is that it is better to shift to the MLA hostel for the remaining time of this assembly. Along with this, the corporation should provide basic facilities for all the councilors to work.
