
KOCHI: Pratheesh Kurup, the lawyer of the first accused Pulsar Suni, responded to the media that he will try his maximum to get the sentence reduced for the accused found guilty in the actor assault case. He responded when the quantum of sentence is to be pronounced soon. The accused were produced in the court today to know whether they have anything to say and are trying to get the sentence reduced. He said that as a defense lawyer, he is trying his maximum to get the sentence reduced for the accused. His response was to a question from a journo that the prosecution's argument is that the accused should be given maximum sentence.
The lawyer added that the court will record the statements of the accused and that the sentence is likely to be delivered today itself. Ernakulam Sessions Court Judge Honey M Varghese will pronounce the quantum of sentence. It will be pronounced after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and the defense.
The accused were brought to the court from Viyyur jail this morning. The hearing is progressing in the court. The court had found one to six accused guilty and they are N S Sunil (Pulsar Suni), Martin Antony, B Manikandan, V P Vijeesh, H Salim and Pradeep. The accused were found guilty of crimes punishable by life imprisonment or 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
