THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF candidate for Palakkad constituency Dr P Sarin will use 'Stethoscope' as his electoral symbol. Three symbols were given namely autorickshaw, torch and stethoscope. Sarin was interested in the autorickshaw symbol.

There are 10 candidates in the constituency. One person withdrew his nomination today. UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil has two dummy candidates. DMK candidate NK Sudheer will be contesting under the auto-rickshaw symbol. There are six candidates in Chelakkara. LDF, UDF, NDA, DMK and two independents are contesting there. There are 16 candidates in Wayanad. No one has withdrawn their nominations.

Will protect P Sarin like apple in the eye

Party state secretary MV Govindan had earlier made it clear that the CPM would protect P Sarin like the apple in the eyes no matter if Sarin loses or wins the Palakkad by-election. He had told a private channel that Sarin has a good future in the CPM.

Whatever the election results in Palakkad, P Sarin will be an asset to the Left. He will never be like PV Anvar. Anvar never tried to become a communist. Sarin has a great political future. The police took the right action in the arrest of PP Divya. The opposition's allegation is absurd. The party will consider action against Divya. No need to mention that to the media. The media has taken an undemocratic stand on the news of Divya's arrest," MV Govindan said.
