KOZHIKODE: Chargesheet filed in Thamarassery Shahbaz murder case. The chargesheet has named six minors as accused. Digital evidence including chats in the Instagram group has also been submitted in the chargesheet, which includes 107 witnesses. The chargesheet states that further investigation will be conducted into the conspiracy related to the murder.
The charge sheet was filed before the Juvenile Justice Board. The family of the deceased Shahbaz had been accusing the relatives of the accused minor students from the beginning. However, the police have concluded that the relatives of the accused were not directly involved in the crime.
Mohammed Shahabas (15), son of Iqbal, a native of Thamarassery, who was undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in a clash between students, died on February 28. Mohammed Shahabas was a student of Thamarassery MJ Higher Secondary School. The police arrested six students of Thamarassery GVHSS. Their bail pleas were earlier rejected by the High Court.
The bail application was rejected stating that there would be a security threat and a law and order problem if the students were released. The court had earlier observed that the allegations against the accused were serious. They are currently in the Vellimadukunnu Observation Home. The bail application had earlier been rejected by the Kozhikode Principal Sessions Court and the Juvenile Justice Board.
