50 cm tube stuck in chest: Medical negligence alleged at Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A young woman from Kattakkada has lodged a complaint alleging medical negligence at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital. She claimed that a surgical tube was left behind in her chest during an operation.

According to the complaint filed with the health department, a 50 cm-long tube got stuck inside her body during a thyroid surgery performed two years ago. The issue surfaced only recently after she developed severe chest congestion, and an X-ray revealed the presence of the tube.

The woman further alleged that the surgeon responsible for the procedure refused to take accountability when confronted. She also claimed that doctors later informed her the tube had become attached to her chest, and attempting to remove it could pose a serious threat to her life.
