891 people went missing in Kerala in three months; concern over rising missing cases

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of missing persons in Kerala is increasing steadily, according to official figures from the Kerala Police. According to figures published on the Kerala Police website, there has been a significant increase in the number of missing cases registered between 2020 and 2024. Around 8,700 cases were reported in 2020. In 2024, it was 11,897 cases registered.

This is the highest rate in the last five years. In 2021, over 9,500 missing cases were registered. In 2022, around 11,259 cases were registered, and in 2023, 11,760 cases were registered. However, there was a slight decrease in this in 2025. 11,139 cases were reported in 2025. In 2026, 891 cases have been registered so far. The cases reported and FIRs registered are available on the Kerala Police website.
