KOCHI: A student was seriously injured after falling from a private bus that was operating without a door. Glancy Mary (16), a Plus One student of Ernakulam Govt. Girls School, sustained injuries including head injuries.

The accident took place near the Vaduthala Church stop on Wednesday morning. The child's teeth were knocked out and blood was flowing. Glancy was first taken to Lourdes Hospital and then to Aster Medcity. The child, who was admitted to the ICU, was shifted to the observation room in the evening.

The student boarded the 'Athulya' bus that runs on the Chittoor route from the Pachalam bus stop to go to school. Glancy's father, an auto driver, who saw his daughter travelling from the footboard of the bus due to the rush, followed the bus on his bike for two stops. He then went to work. Glancy's father said that he received a call from Lourdes Hospital informing him that his daughter was injured before he reached the auto stand. The North Police have registered a case in the incident.
