KOZHIKODE: The DySPs involved in the Perambra clash in which Shafi Parambil MP was injured have been transferred. Two DySPs have been transferred. Allegations were levelled against Vadakara DySP Hariprasad and Perambra DySP Sunil Kumar in the incident. Hariprasad was transferred to Kozhikode North and Sunil Kumar to Kozhikode District Crime Branch.

Their names were included in the list of transferred officers. However, the official information is that this transfer is based on the upcoming local body elections.
The Congress had alleged that the police had hurled explosives during the clash that broke out during the hartal related to the Perambra CKG College elections. The Congress District Committee had released the visuals of it. The police used grenades along with tear gas. The Congress alleged that the explosive was thrown amidst this.

Five UDF workers were arrested in the case of throwing explosives and attacking the police during the protests. The police had also registered a case against 700 people, including Shafi Parambil MP as the first accused. The Perambra police arrested local residents Musthafa, Nazir, Rasheed, Sajeer and Mithilaj. The Perambra police had taken seven UDF workers into custody the other day on the LDF's allegation that UDF workers threw explosives towards the police during the clash.

The UDF leaders accused the police of making one-sided arrests and fabricating cases in Perambra, allegedly acting on behalf of the CPM.
