The prosecution has started its appeal against the trial court order in the actress attack case. The main question is the court's action in acquitting the eighth accused, Dileep. The court sentenced six accused, including Pulsar Suni, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in the case. Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M. Varghese sentenced the accused after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and the accused. Apart from Pulsar Suni, the court had found Martin Antony, B Manikandan, VP Vijeesh, H Salim (Vadival Salim) and Pradeep guilty. Charges including gang rape have been proven against the accused.
The 1711-page judgment in the actress attack case was released the other day. The court rejected the conspiracy argument in the case and explained in the judgment that there was no evidence of a conspiracy. The court also clarified why the eighth accused, Dileep, was acquitted. The order also states that there is no evidence that Dileep paid money to Pulsar Suni. The judgment also states on page 1547 that there is no evidence that the ninth accused, Mesthiri Sanal, conspired with Pulsar Suni in jail. The court also denied the allegation that Dileep tried to influence the judge, including in the trial court.
