AHMEDABAD: The body of Malayali nurse Ranjitha Gopakumar, who died in the Ahmedabad plane crash, has been identified. Her remains will be brought to Thiruvananthapuram airport by 7 AM tomorrow.
Following this, the body will be brought to her house at Pullad in Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta. The body was identified through DNA testing. The body is currently kept in a hospital mortuary in Ahmedabad.
Ranjitha was working as a nurse in London. The tragedy occurred while she was returning to London after visiting her children and mother during a vacation in Kerala. She had previously worked in Oman and moved to London about a year ago.
The plane crash that shook the nation occurred on June 11. Air India flight AI 171, which took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad en route to London, crashed within minutes of takeoff. 241 people on board, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani (68), were killed. However, one passenger named Ramesh Vishwaskumar miraculously survived by jumping out through the emergency exit.
