THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cabinet meeting approved the liquor policy with further relaxation on dry days. According to the new liquor policy, keeping in mind the tourist demand, liquor can now be served on the first of every month and in hotels above three stars grade. Liquor is also allowed to be served on ships with five-star facilities. The relaxation has been granted to hotels organizing weddings and international conferences. Permission should be obtained from the Excise Commissioner by showing the ceremony in advance for this. Bar licenses will be issued to ships with five-star facilities to serve liquor.

Meanwhile, there is no change in the distance limit of toddy shops under the new liquor policy. The distance limit of 400 meters will continue. The proposal is that bars should not be opened on special permission days and liquor can be served only during functions.
