NEW DELHI: Amidst suspense looming over the new DGP of Kerala, the central government appointed Ravada Chandrashekhar to the important post of Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat. The Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of the SPG, which is responsible for the security of the Prime Minister. The decision is taken by the Cabinet Appointments Committee.
Chandrasekhar is currently the Special Director of the IB. He is a 1991 batch Kerala cadre officer. DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib will retire on June 30. Ravada was one among the three officers on the list to succeed Sahib as DGP in Kerala. Ravada has held important positions in the Kerala Police, including the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner.
