KOCHI: The office bearers of the Council of CBSE Schools Kerala and the National Council of CBSE Schools have submitted a memorandum to the Union Education Ministry and CBSE, demanding more time to implement the Apaar ID for students. The council's national secretary general, Dr Indira Rajan, said that the authorities have informed that they will adopt a sympathetic approach.
CBSE had directed that the registration for issuing Apaar ID, a personal digital identification number, to students should be completed by 30th of this month. Apaar ID is a digital ID that can be used by every student throughout their life, and records their entire educational journey in a unified manner. It can help keep academic records safe and facilitate school and state changes. The main problem faced by schools is the delay in implementing online submission of information, technology facilities and awareness among parents.
A team led by Dr. Indira Rajan discussed these issues with the CBSE Chairman, Secretary, Controller of Examinations and others in a meeting held in Delhi. The authorities said that they may consider allowing more time for registration.
