THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that the Wayanad and Kasaragod government medical colleges have received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
"The approval has been given for 50 MBBS seats each. The approval was obtained by providing basic and academic facilities as per NMC norms. Admission procedures will be taken this academic year itself. A multi-purpose block worth Rs 45 crore has been constructed in Wayanad Medical College. A 60-seat nursing college has also been started. Administrative approval of Rs 160 crore has been given from KIIFB funds for the construction of Kasaragod Medical College. The construction of the hospital block is in progress. The academic block building has been completed. Rs 8 crore has been allocated for the water supply system for the medical college," the minister said.
