THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Protests erupted across Kerala against the arrest of two Malayali nuns in Chhattisgarh. The KPCC organised a protest march to the Raj Bhavan, which was inaugurated by Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan. He said the Chief Minister should immediately convey Kerala’s protest against the imprisonment of the nuns to both the Prime Minister and the Chhattisgarh government. KPCC president Sunny Joseph, who presided over the protest, said that the public outrage over the arrests must also be communicated to the Union government through the Governor.
AICC Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala said religious minorities are facing deep anxiety today. AICC general secretary Deepa Dasmunsi alleged that the BJP and Sangh Parivar were carrying out attacks against the religious freedom guaranteed by the Constitution. KPCC working president P.C. Vishnunath, Thiruvananthapuram DCC president N. Sakthan, former KPCC presidents M.M. Hassan, V.M. Sudheeran, and K. Muraleedharan, along with working presidents A.P. Anil Kumar and Shafi Parambil, also took part in the protest.
