KOLLAM: An elderly man, who was taken into custody by the Paravur police for questioning on the complaint of a woman, collapsed and died. The deceased is Yashodharan (56), a resident of Paravur Pukulam Tsunami Flat. He was taken into custody by the Paravur police from his house around 5.30 pm on Sunday and taken to the station. Yashodharan, who felt unwell after being brought to the station, was first admitted to Nedungolam Taluk Hospital and then to Parippally Medical College Hospital but died around 7.30 pm, police said.
The police took Yashodharan into custody on a complaint lodged by a woman residing in a nearby tsunami flat in connection with the problems arising out of financial disputes. Yashodharan's wife Ambika said that her husband was taken away from the flat by dragging him by the collar and an officer threatened that Yashodharan would not see the outside world. Yashodharan's body was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem at Paripally Medical College. He will be buried at his family home in Thiruvalla. Ambika said that she will file a complaint alleging mystery in Yashodharan's death. They have no children.
