Assault on two Kallada bus travellers; One more arrested, two go underground

KOCHI: In the case related to the assault on two passengers in Kallada bus that was on its way to Bengaluru from Thiruvananthapuram, the police have arrested one more person.
The arrested person is Travels employee and Mannancherry native Vishnu (29). He was arrested by Marad police on Monday night. With this, the total number of arrested persons is five. Two persons have gone into hiding.
Marad SI said that they would be arrested very soon.

Persons arrested earlier are Thiruvananthapuram Pallikkal native Jayesh (29), Thrissur Kodakara native Jithin (25), Tamil Nadu native Anwar, Harippad native Rajesh. The accused were produced in the court in the day.

The staff of the Kallada Travels bus, travelling to Bengaluru from Haripad in Alappuzha district on Saturday night, thrashed two passengers and forced them out of the bus early Sunday morning. The Maradu police booked three persons, all bus crew, who were identified after a mobile video of the assault went viral on social media.

It all started when the luxury bus’s brake snapped when it reached Haripad. The bus was stopped for over two hours and the passengers got into an argument with the driver. The passengers have intimated the police. Though the passengers were shifted to another bus and the journey was resumed, the bus halted at Vyttila in front of the office of Kallada Travels.
Three staff of Kallada Travels entered the bus and assaulted the young men and forced them out of the bus, he added. The incident took place around 4 am on Sunday morning.
