THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 25-day anticipation following the Kerala Assembly elections will finally end tomorrow, as the state finds out which alliance will hold the reins of power for the next five years. Counting is also set to begin tomorrow in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry, where polling was conducted in multiple phases.

Since the polls closed on April 9, leaders and party workers across Kerala’s three major fronts have been on edge.

  • UDF: Supporters are heading to counting centres with high spirits, buoyed by exit polls predicting a return to power after a ten-year hiatus.
  • LDF: The Left remains optimistic about securing a historic third consecutive term, dismissing exit poll data by pointing to past instances where such predictions missed the mark.
  • NDA: The BJP-led alliance claims to have consolidated a massive vote share and maintains that it will be the ultimate kingmaker in the government formation.

Counting starts at 8:00 am; first trends by 8:30 am

Official counting will commence at 8:00 AM across 140 centres in 43 locations. The first significant trends are expected to emerge within 30 minutes of the start. Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Rathan U. Kelkar confirmed that all official procedures and security arrangements are in place for a smooth process.
