Attack on Vande Bharat in Thrissur, damages glass windows of two coaches

THRISSUR: Stones were pelted at Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat Express in Thrissur. The glass windows of two coaches were broken. However, no casualty has been reported. The train was attacked Friday morning at 9.30 am. The glass windows of C2 and C4 coaches were broken. The RPF said the accused is a mentally challenged man and that he has been arrested.


There have been attacks on the Vande Bharat train earlier also. The incident was between Thalassery and Mahi in Kannur on August 16. The window pane of C-8 coach of the train was damaged. The attack was on the train which was going to Thiruvananthapuram from Kasaragod.


Even before this, stones were pelted at various trains in Kannur. On the night of August 13, stones were pelted at three trains. AC coach of Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai Netravati Express was attacked between Kannur and Valapattanam. The Mangalore-Chennai Superfast was attacked in between the Kannur-Kannur South station. There was an attack on the Okha-Eranakulam Express near Neeleswaram. Stones were pelted at the Duronto Express between Pappinisseri and Valapattanam on August 14.


There was an attack on Vande Bharat in Malappuram as well. The attack took place just before the train left Tirur and reached Tirunavaya railway station. The train was slightly damaged.
