THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor R.V.Arlekar may cancel the move to declare an SFI activist, who failed in the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) examination at the Sanskrit University, a BFA pass. The student was even allowed to enter the MFA course. Action is also possible against the officials who were involved in the irregularities. The Governor has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.
The move in favour of the failed SFI student was made despite the examination department's objections. VC Dr Ciza Thomas, the Registrar, the Examination Controller and the Examination Department Section Officer had reached the Lok Bhavan the other day and handed over the documents to the Governor.
The officials admitted to the governor that the action declaring a pass mark to the student was against the regulations. They explained that the same fraud was done before, too, which will likely be investigated. The governor had removed the interim VC, Dr K.K. Geethakumari, for ignoring the suggestion to cancel the syndicate decision. The Save University Campaign Committee brought the irregularities in the university to the governor's attention.
The Save University Campaign Committee and Dr Ciza Thomas demanded strict action against the officials who committed irregularities using the Vice Chancellor’s password to leak files. A complaint has been filed.
