BJP leader with hate remarks over Muslims sweeping state film awards

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader Lasitha Palakkal stepped forward with a hate remark in connection with the state film awards. The Muslims have won majority of the awards, she said in a video.

‘Best actress is Shamla Hamsa, best actor Mammootty, special jury mention Asif Ali, best supporting actor Soubin Shahir, best cinematography Shaiju Khalid, best debut director Fazil Muhammed. This time, all the Muslims have swept the awards. Isn't this what the minister said this time’s awards have no complaints. Please bear with me, just said a fact.

Culture Minister Saji Cherian announced the state film awards of 2024 on Monday evening. Mammootty was chosen best actor for his stunning performance as Kodumon Potty and Chathan in Brahmayugam. This is the seventh time Mammootty is getting the award.

New face Shamla Hamsa got the best actress award for her role in Feminichi Fathima. Manjummal Boys got 10 awards including for best film. Manjummal Boys won awards for best director, supporting actor cinematographer, script writer, art director, lyricist, sound design, best sound mixing and colourist.

Darsana Rajendran got special jury award for her role in Paradise and Jyothirmayi for Bougainvillea. Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali got special jury award for ARM and Kishkindha Kaandam. Chidambaram got best director award.
