THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The NDA considers Nemom an A-class constituency where it expects to secure a victory in the upcoming Assembly elections. In the last Lok Sabha polls, Nemom recorded the highest number of votes for the BJP among the Assembly segments in Thiruvananthapuram. The party also made notable gains in the constituency during the recent local body elections.
BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar had earlier announced his intention to contest from Nemom in the Assembly elections. Even before the official election announcement, the BJP has now launched its campaign activities in the constituency. Rajeev Chandrasekhar began the campaign by writing on a wall at Indira Gandhi Junction in Thali, under Booth No. 100 in the Kalady ward.
Addressing party workers, he alleged that the sitting MLA from Nemom, who is also a minister, has failed to effectively address the issues faced by the people of the constituency. He said people of Nemom are seeking a significant change in leadership. Rajeev Chandrasekhar added that he would formally contest from Nemom if he receives approval from the BJP central leadership.
He also participated in family meetings organised across various booths in the constituency and attended the live screening of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat.
State General Secretary Adv. S. Suresh, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Parliamentary Party leader Pappanamcode Saji, and Kalady councillor G.S. Manju were among those present at the events.
