BJP worker arrested for threatening and extracting info from female BLO

KASARGOD: A BJP worker who stopped a woman BLO in Uppala and copied SIR information onto his phone has been arrested. Amith S. (34) from Manimunda, Uppala, was taken into custody by the Manjeshwaram police. The incident took place yesterday at around 2:30 p.m. near the Uppala bus stand. The complaint was filed by BLO A. Subhashini (41), a native of Bekkoor.

Subhashini was returning after collecting SIR details when Amith allegedly intercepted her, forced her to open the SIR app, and copied the information onto his own phone. He later shared these details in several WhatsApp groups.

A case has been registered against him following directions from the District Collector and the District Police Chief. The charges include threatening the BLO and obstructing official duty.
