KOTTAYAM: The funeral of lawyer Jismol and her daughters Neha and Nora will be held on Saturday. The funeral is scheduled for 3 pm at the Cherukara St. Mary's Knanaya Church cemetery in Poovathingal, Padinjattinkara, Pala. Although the bodies will be taken to Neerikad Church, Jismol's husband Jimmy's parish, for public homage in the morning, the bodies will not be taken to Jimmy's house.
Jittu Thomas, the brother of the deceased, said that Jismol had faced severe torture at her husband's house. The brother said that she had been tortured for her skin complexion and financial status and that he gave a statement to the Ettumanoor police. The brother and father say that they had not been able to contact Jismol even on the phone since two days before her death.
Jismol committed suicide by killing her children after being subjected to mental torture at her husband's house. Jismol's family was of the view that the bodies would not be brought to Jimmy's hometown and that the funeral would not be held in the church there. However, according to the Knanaya Church rules, the funeral should be held in the husband's parish. After two days of discussions at the church level, it was agreed to hold a one-and-a-half-hour public homage at Neerikkad.
The bodies will be taken to Pala soon after the public homage. The bodies of Jismol and her children are currently in the morgue of a private hospital in Pala. After killing her children by poisoning them, Jismol committed suicide by jumping into the river. It is suspected that Jismol's husband Jimmy had kept her phone. Jismol's brother also said that he had tried to bring Jismol from her in-laws' house several times.
