MANNAR: Leena, a nurse in Kuwait, is stuck in Kuwait following the cancellation of flights due to the US-Israel-Iran tensions. She is not able to reach home after hearing the news of her husband’s death. So, the body of her husband Saji (49), who died of a heart attack, is presently kept in the mortuary of Mavelikkara District Hospital.

Saji, an auto driver died on February 28 at a private hospital in Parumala. Leena had booked a ticket to return home that evening after learning the news, but the Iran-Israel conflict caused the cancellation of flights and the closure of the airport. This halted her journey and following that Saji's funeral was also postponed.

Leena, a nurse at Sira Hospital in Salmiya, Kuwait, returned to Kuwait two months ago after vacation. Officials of the cultural organization Kala Kuwait in Kuwait and the Indian Embassy are continuing their efforts to send Leena home. Presently, even if the airport opens, priority will be given to passengers staying in hotels waiting for connecting flights. The embassy and the organization officials are trying to send Leena along with them. Saji and Leena's only daughter, Sona, is a third-year B.Sc student.
