THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Peerumedu MLA and CPI state council member Vazhoor Soman (72) will be cremated today. The body was brought to his house at Valardi in Vandiperiyar early Friday morning.

There will be a public homage at his house from 8 am. The body will then be taken to Vandiperiyar Town Hall at 11 am. The funeral will be held at 4 pm near the memorial of AITUC leader S K Anandan in Pambanar.

It was initially decided to cremate the body in the house compound. However, the decision was later changed after relatives informed that Vazhoor Soman wanted to be cremated near S K Anandan's memorial.

He was taken to Sree Ramakrishna Ashram Hospital in Sasthamangalam in Minister K Rajan's official vehicle, but his life could not be saved.

The body was kept at the M N Memorial for public darshan from 7 pm. The body was taken to Vandiperiyar at around 8 pm last night. He leaves behind his wife Bindu Soman, a family member of Vandiperiyar Thazathuveetil. His children are advocate Sobin Soman (CPI Idukki District Council member), Sobith Soman (Mathrubhumi, Kozhikode). Daughter-in-law: Poojitha of Karunagappally Nambaru Ayyath family.
