Body shaming during press meet, actress’ reply irks vloggers; actor, director kept mum

Actress Gouri Kishan harshly reacted to body shaming. The incident was at the press meet during the promotion of her Tamil film in Chennai. The actress gave an apt reply to the vlogger who asked her about her weight.

When she said what a stupid question you are asking, the vloggers sought her apology and raised at her. The heated exchanges lasted for ten minutes. ‘How does my weight concern you. It is a completely disrespectful question. It's a stupid question. Should I be size zero being an actress? You are body shaming me. That's wrong and I won't apologize. You people should apologize. Do you want to sexualize a female character like this?’

Director Abin Hariharan and actor Aditya Madhavan also attended the press meet. The two failed to respond when Gouri was body shamed. There are widespread criticisms on social media against this.

‘The room was full of men. I had to speak for myself there. I have faced this in Kerala too. There was a scene in the film where the hero had to lift me. In the first press meet, asked the hero how he felt when lifting me. I didn't feel it as a joke. I didn't respond then. Asked the director why he cast a heroine with such a body shape. Even then those in my team didn't respond. The same question will be asked to another actress tomorrow also. They don't want to know about my film or my character,' the actress told a channel.
