NEW DELHI: The central government expressed readiness to negotiate again with Kerala regarding the borrowing limit. The state government's special representative KV Thomas said that he has received a notification regarding this from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office and would inform Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan about this. This came out after a meeting between the Prime Minister's advisor and KV Thomas. KV Thomas has stated that Narendra Modi's office has informed that the Centre's response can be conveyed in the Silver Line DPR.

Earlier, Finance Minister KN Balagopal had informed that the discussion held between Kerala and the Centre regarding the borrowing limit as per the instructions of the Supreme Court had failed. "The Centre did not accept the demands made by Kerala. It is clear from the discussion that the Centre is unhappy with Kerala filing a case against reducing the borrowing limit. The finance department officials had pointed out many times during the discussion that Kerala had filed a case in the Supreme Court and the case was pending", Balagopal said.
