KOCHI: Kochi Corporation states that they had given warning to Zonta Infratech, the firm which received the bio-mining contract, even before the fire broke out at the Brahmapuram waste plant. But the corporation responded that the contract company ignored this.

The explanation given by the corporation is that the letter was issued immediately after the fire in February. In the letter, it was suggested that waste should be segregated and old waste should be replaced and fire safety measures should be arranged.

Meanwhile, efforts to douse the fire have entered the tenth day. The High Court committee will visit the plant today. Garbage removal has resumed in Kochi. But the garbage trucks were stopped by the locals.
